Hi, You guys have really been busy!! I heard the LOW is no more. Seems like I read that in Highways Magazine - the Good Sam one. I lived at Watergate at Landmark from 1978-2002. Bob lived in Bethesda for 20+ years and coached CEOs until we got married --actually 10 years ago today! If nothing else, the traffic in DC will drive you to become fulltimers. I'll have to catch up on you but too late tonight! Lynda and Bob

Just a few quick comments I hope will help you out. After living over a year on the road, here's what we've found:

Fuel: Your budget is too low, be prepared for at least $7.75/gal and you'll be happy when it's not. We budgeted for $3.75/gal in June of 07, thinking it would never ever go that high. Well, today, 7/29/08, in Lake City Colorado, it's $5.36/gal. Also, budget for more miles traveled. We budgeted for 20k in a year and have gone way, way beyond that.

Campgrounds: We budgeted for $35/night for private, and $25 for public. Sometimes we've reached these numbers depending on where we are (East Coast cg's are always higher). Membership campgrounds aren't always convenient and sometimes you just get stuck paying more.

Our website's Resources Page has some budget planning templates, based on Carol White's book "Road Trip Dream." We've found that these numbers and categories are pretty accurate for us, hope they help you too!
